#68: “The Rehearsal” & The Astrology of Nathan Fielding

Kent and Wonder discuss the work and untimed chart of comedian and provocateur, Nathan Fielder. For this episode they watched, for the first time, Fielder’s hyper reality HBO show The Rehearsal. On HBO’s website the show’s one line description reads, “Nathan Fielder allows ordinary people to prepare for life’s biggest moments by ‘rehearsing’ them in carefully crafted simulations”, which is, honestly, probably all you really should know before you begin watching, if you haven’t seen it already. The journey Fielder takes you on over the course of two seasons* is unprecedented, surreal, and both difficult to talk about with someone who has not seen it and impossible not to talk about with anyone who has. Unsurprisingly, then, much of Wonder and Kent’s discussion centered on Uranus, the great disruptor, which conjoined Jupiter in Sagittarius on Fielder’s day of birth. Also covered is the Saturn Sextile Neptune in his chart with Neptune conjoined his South Node, and Saturn conjoined Pluto in Libra.

*a third season has been greenlit, but is unreleased as of the date of this writing

NOTES: This episode is the first part of a trilogy that originated from watching the trailer for You Can See Everything, a hyper real documentary by Fielder and co-director, Lance Oppenheim to be released on October 16, 2026. You Can See Everything follows convicted fraudster, Elizabeth Holmes in the 34 days before she entered prison to begin her eleven year sentence. The trailer was so unhinged and evocative Wonder and Kent immediately began familiarizing themselves with Fielder’s work, which had sadly escaped their notice till now. After finishing The Rehearsal, they moved on to the Hulu miniseries on Holmes called The Dropout to properly prepare for the release of You Can See Everything. Somewhere in the middle of watching these first two shows they realized the entire experience was a deep immersion in the Saturn Neptune themes that characterize this period of time, and would make a great podcast series. This episode is first part in the series, the second is on Holmes and The Dropout, which you can find here, and the third part is, of course, on You Can See Everything.
